Fairfield County Motorcycle Ride Pays Tribute To 9/11

NORWALK, Conn. -- The 13th annual Connecticut United Ride -- Connecticut's largest 9/11 tribute -- will kick off in Norwalk with an estimated 4,000 motorcyclists riding to Bridgeport on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The ride travels with full police escort through 11 cities and towns: Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Georgetown, Redding, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield and ending in Bridgeport.

The event begins in Norwalk at Exit 17 off I-95 (Norden Park). Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., with ceremonies at 10:30. The Ride begins at 11:30 a.m.

Fire departments along the route will hang U.S. flags for the event. 

Registration forms for the ride can be found online, or riders can preregister at Captain's Cove Marina in Bridgeport. 

The registration fee is $25 per rider and $25 per passenger. 

The ride will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will end in Bridgeport with an afternoon of food and entertainment. Food and drinks will be free for the first 2,000 registered riders. 

Last year, 2,300 motorcycles were at the end of the ride at Seaside Park. The event raises funds for Connecticut firefighters, law enforcement, and two local United Ways.

  • to Route 302 Bethel

  • to Main Street Trumbull
  • to Old Town Road
  • to Park Avenue in Fairfield
  • continuing into Bridgeport to Seaside Park with Bridgeport's Fire Rescue 5 leading the motorcade.
