A man who allegedly told a neighbor hed been a sniper in Afghanistan and could start dropping people was arrested Sunday, police reported. The incident began when Christopher Dinapoli drove by his neighbors yard on Edith Lane and made an obscene gesture. The 41-year-old neighbor, who had been with his three children, walked to Dinapolis house and asked why he had made the gesture. Dinapoli, 40, allegedly said he was angry. The father started swearing at him, and added that his family doesn't want any problems with Dinapoli. "You don't want to mess with me, Dinapoli is alleged to have said. I used to be a sniper in Afghanistan. I can start dropping people from here."
Dinapoli admitted to police that he had made an obscene gesture. "I just don't like him," he said. He allegedly said his comments hadn't been a threat. "I was a sniper in Afghanistan, I didn't threaten him," he said.
Police say Dinapoli was intoxicated and had marijuana in his pocket. He was arrested and charged with threatening, possession of a controlled substance and breach of peace. Bond was $5,000.

Norwalk Police arrested two men they say were shoplifting at the Connecticut Avenue Walmart on Sunday. Edy Escobar, 30, and Radolfo Marroquin, 18, allegedly stole CDs and a DVD player with a combined value of $150. Escobar was charged with two counts of larceny; Marroquin was charged with larceny and conspiracy. Bond for each was $150. Escobar lives in Norwalk. Police did not list an address for Marroquin.
