Downpours Due to Drench Norwalk Friday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Saturday looks like a good day to plan inside activities for you and your family in Fairfield County. Downpours expected to start Friday night could last through the day Saturday, the National Weather Service says.

A cold front that will stall west of the region could drop up to 3 or 4 inches of rain, says the Weather Service, which has issued a flood watch for Fairfield County from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. Friday is also the first full day of fall.

The heavy rain is likely to start after noon on Friday and become heavier Friday night, when the Weather Service says there is a 100 percent chance of rain. The rain could ease a bit Saturday morning but become heavier again in the afternoon. Heavy winds are not expected.

Don't look for relief later in the weekend. There is 40 percent to 50 percent chance of rain every day through the middle of next week, the Weather Service says.

The temperatures will be in the mid- to low-70s during the day and drop into the mid-60s at night through Tuesday, with a chance of slightly colder weather later in next week.
