Cops Taser Norwalk Man for Resisting Arrest

A 30-year-old Norwalk man who was Tasered by police during a domestic incident two years ago was Tasered again Sunday night. Police officers said they recognized Michael Ortiz when he got out of a car behind the Benjamin Franklin School. Ortiz, who was wanted on three warrants, had something clenched in his fist. Officers suspected it was marijuana. Police said Ortiz put up a fight and was Tasered in the back but still resisted. Officers used the Taser on his upper right leg, and Ortiz fell on the ground. Police said he had PCP in his hand. They found more in the pocket of his jeans.

Ortiz was Tasered on Oct. 5, 2008, when his girlfriend reported that he was on PCP and tearing their apartment apart. Police had to force their way into the bathroom to get to Ortiz. There was blood all over from a cut on his right wrist.

He was also stopped for running a series of stop signs on Dec. 23, 2008 near Norwalk Hospital. Police say they found wet marijuana on him that was laced with PCP.

Ortiz was charged Sunday with interfering with a police officer, possession of narcotics, possession near a school, and three counts of failure to appear. Bond was $110,000.
