FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Connecticut's jobless rate dropped for the seventh straight month in February, falling two-tenths of a point to 7.8 percent, Gov. Dannel Malloy said Thursday.
Some 5,500 jobs were added by the private sector, bringing unemployment to its lowest level since April 2009, Malloy said, adding that 17,100 positions have been gained since the beginning of the year.
But we must not lose sight that we are still at the beginning of the recovery," Malloy said in a statement. "Reclaiming the jobs that were lost will take time, but my administration is committed to do everything we can to put the state on a path that will lead to an economic revival.
The national unemployment rate is 8.3 percent.
