Connecticut Suspends Road Construction For Memorial Day Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- It's no guarantee that I-95, the Merritt Parkway, Route 7 and I-84 in Fairfield County won't be clogged with holiday traffic this weekend, but no maintenance or construction activities will be done major expressways this Memorial Day weekend through 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. 

The announcement came from the Connecticut Department of Transportation. 

Only work of an emergency nature will be considered.

For train service, Metro-North will run its train to the game schedule on Saturday May 25, for a soccer match, Manchester City vs. Chelsea Soccer at 5:30 p.m., at Yankee Stadium.  

Metro-North trains will be running on regular weekend schedules on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, Memorial Day, trains will operate on a Sunday schedule with one extra train that departs New Haven at 7:47 p.m. and make local stops to Fairfield, then Westport, before going express to Grand Central Terminal. This train is shown in the timetable.
