Connecticut Looks To Attack Invasion Of Zebra Mussels In Lakes

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – An increasing number of damaging species are invading Connecticut waters, according to West Fair Online, which cited an alert from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Zebra mussels, which have caused millions of dollars in economic loss in Missouri since invading the state in 1990s, are now found throughout the Housatonic River and its impoundments, including Lake Lillinonah and Lake Zoar, according to West Fair Online.

Female zebra mussels can produce a million eggs a year and they have no natural enemy in this hemisphere, according to West Fair Online.
