State transportation officials suggest completely avoiding the Interstate 95-Interstate 91 interchange in New Haven for the weekend. Drivers should at least plan ahead and consider alternate routes.
The DOT will conduct traffic shifts for the Pearl Harbor Memorial Q Bridge/I-95 corridor project over the weekend. The traffic shift is related to construction activities in the I-95 northbound/ I-91 northbound area between Exit 46, Long Wharf Drive, and Exit 48, I-91 northbound exit ramp
Signs will be posted about these lane closures on I-95 northbound:
- Lane closures between Exit 45 for Ella Grasso Boulevard and the Exit 48 ramp to I-91 northbound; and
- Northbound I-95 will be reduced to two lanes with left available lane for access to I-91 northbound and right available lane as the through lane to I-95 northbound from 11 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday and 11 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Other details from the DOT include:
- The off-ramp to Route 34 at Exit 47 will remain open.
- The Long Wharf Drive on-ramp to I-95 northbound in the Exit 46 area will be closed 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. Traffic will be detoured to Route 34, I-91 or I-95.
- The off-ramp to I-91 northbound at Exit 48 will remain open but will be reduced to one lane from 11 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday and 11 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.
Upon completion of the traffic shift, motorists from Long Wharf Drive will not have access to I-91 northbound at Exit 48. Traffic will be detoured to East Street, Ives Place and back into I-91 northbound. This detour will be in effect until the summer of 2014.
