FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. ? The unemployment rate in Connecticut, while still below the national average, was unchanged in April, according to a report from the state's Department of Labor.
The rate stayed at 7.7 percent, compare to a national rate of 8.1 percent.
Since January 2011, there have been nearly 16,000 new, private sector jobs created, and the unemployment rate is down 20 percent so, overall, there has been job growth," Gov. Dannel Malloy said Thursday. "That said, I fully recognize that we have more work to do. I remain optimistic that moving forward well continue to create jobs.
