Connecticut AG Takes On Facebook

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Don't want to be tagged in a Facebook photo from the college frat party where you got a little wild?

Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen has convinced the social network to run ads allowing users to opt out of being tagged, Bloomberg reports. The new ads will take users right to their privacy settings.

The company anticipates that every Facebook user in the U.S. will have seen the new ad at least twice in the coming weeks, Jepsen said in a release. "For any users who opt out, any facial recognition data collected will be deleted," he said.

Jepsen said he contacted Facebook in February after state Rep. Kim Rose, of Milford, complained about the difficulty she had shutting down an imposter profile of her that was fraudulently soliciting money.
