Former Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy's election as Connecticut governor means he and wife Cathy will be based in Hartford for at least the next four years. But word has come from Cathy Malloy's office that she will maintain her position as head of a Stamford-based agency that assists victims of sexual assault.
"Cathy is continuing as executive director of the center. Logistics are still being figured out," Lynn Tusa, director of development for the Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education, told The Daily Stamford.
At a recent conference, before it was known whether Malloy would continue in the position after becoming the state's first lady, she emphasized her commitment to the organization. It offers 24-hour assistance to women, children and men in Stamford as well as Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport, Weston and Wilton who have experienced sexual assault.
At the conference, Malloy said that while in Hartford, "I hope to further the agenda and speak out on this issue, because it's very dear to my heart."
Dan Malloy will be sworn in as the state's governor Wednesday.
