Candidate Linda McMahon Answers Voters' Questions

Linda McMahon, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, visited Norwalk on Saturday. About 50 people, including Mayor Richard Moccia, attended the reception that was held at the Norwalk Inn.

“It was a great event,” said Art Scialabba, chairman of the Norwalk Republican Town Committee. “She received a very positive reception.”

Scialabba said McMahon’s campaign committee had organized the reception as an opportunity for Norwalk voters to ask the candidate their questions. McMahon said she supports term limits. If elected, she told people she would consider a second term but that would be it. She does not believe in “career politicians.” She also said she does not believe in amnesty for undocumented immigrants and said the country must get control of its borders.

McMahon, who stepped down last year as the CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, said her Senate run was not about “looking for a new career.” She said she had enjoyed a wonderful career in business and now wanted to “give back.”

Both Moccia and Scialabba have endorsed McMahon but the Norwalk Republican Town Committee has not yet made a decision. Scialabba said it is unlikely any endorsement for the Senate race would reflect a unanimous opinion of the Committee. State Rep. Larry Cafero has already endorsed former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons.

The Connecticut Republican Convention will take place in Hartford on May 21 and 22. Delegates to the convention include Scialabba and Cafero.
