A resident told the Daily Voice of hearing several loud explosions Wednesday afternoon, followed by outages in various areas. Utility crews arrived to work on restoring power along the lines, the resident said. Portable stop signs were placed along South Main Street where intersection lights were out.
The area affected was near Lexington and Ely avenues and Mulvoy Street, including Columbus Magnet and Side by Side, The Hour said.
South Norwalk Electric and Water told The Hour that two “very large fuses” blew out at about noon as crews were switching customers from the old substation to the new substation.
