GREENWICH, Conn. Greenwich resident Eric Goldstein was standing outside the Apple store on Greenwich Avenue Wednesday afternoon with his iPhone just hours after Apples new CEO, Tim Cook, announced the new iPhone 4S. Unfortunately, he wasnt planning to get the upgrade.
I love the iPhone. All my friends have Droids, but I stick with the iPhone, Goldstein said. I recently got this one, but my family members are going to get the new one. Theyre always trying to get the newest one.
Cook introduced the new iPhone at a press conference in Cupertino, Calif. While the iPhone 4S looks identical to its predecessors, the companys Website says it boasts higher- caliber features.
The new iPhone will be available on Sprints wireless network, in addition to AT&Ts and Verizons. It has an A5 processor, which promises to deliver graphics seven times faster and to deliver up to two times more power.
The phones new video camera will shoot high-definition and its camera offers 8 mega-pixel resolution and promises to improve photo quality. The company also claims the Retina display has the highest-resolution. Users can also make a FaceTime call that connects over Wi-Fi iPhone to iPhone, iPad2, iPod touch or Mac.
The new iPhone also marks the introduction of Siri, an intelligent assistant that allows users to vocally send messages, schedule meetings, take dictation and place calls. Users can even ask it questions and it will find what youre looking for.
The phone can be ordered by presale starting Friday and will be in stores Oct. 14.
