App Gets You to Your Train, Without Folding

Have you ever tried to re-fold one of those New Haven Line schedules? I've got one on my refrigerator and it takes two magnets to keep the thing from sliding off. But having an up-to-date schedule's key if there's a commuter in the family.  But of course--there's an app for that.

A company called MobileWare makes an iPhone application called onTime: MNR that puts the entire New Haven Line schedule into your phone, letting you scroll through trains to find what you're looking for.  The app, which sells in the iTunes store for $2.99, has a countdown timer that lets you know how much time you've got before the next train, and tells you if it's peak or off-peak.

The company makes similar apps for the Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit.
