Aitoro Hosts Benefit for Norwalk Cancer Center

Norwalk home appliance store Aitoro hosted a wine and food tasting Thursday to benefit the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. Fenella Pearson, TheDailyNorwalk's Home & Garden and Real Estate Editor, and a former breast cancer patient at Norwalk Hospital, was the guest speaker. "The sad truth is that anyone can get cancer," said Pearson. "But we are lucky to have a top facility like the Whittingham Cancer Center in our community. The wonderful staff at Norwalk Hospital is there to help you at every step."

Guests, who included current and former patients and their families as well as several doctors, had a choice of 50 wines to sample, courtesy of World of Beverages. B.J. Ryan's served up tasty pulled pork sliders and sinfully delicious corn muffins, Jonathan Mathias, owner and chef of the catering company A Dash of Salt, carved baby racks of lamb and creamy risotto, and the chefs from Cava in New Canaan and Scena in Darien prepared panzotti with fresh spring peas and veal. Platters of pastries from Muros' New York Bakery provided the finishing touch.

All proceeds, including a portion of the evening’s wine sales, go to the Whittingham Cancer Center.
