Air Quality Alert Issued For Coastal Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- An air quality alert is in effect for Southern Fairfield County from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, said the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

An air quality action day means that ground level ozone in the coastal region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion, the department warned.

Respiratory symptoms and breathing discomfort are increasing likely in active children and adults with respiratory disease, such as asthma, under such conditions.
