Fifteen people are searching for new homes after a car struck the building they lived in early Saturday. Sgt. Lisa Cotto said the structure, at 36 Butler Ave., has been declared uninhabitable by the health department.
Police were called to the residence at 12:24 a.m. Saturday. A man driving a 1999 Chevy Tracker lost control of his vehicle and struck the front porch of the Las Taracas store. The driver was bleeding from the forehead and was taken to Norwalk Hospital.
Three apartments occupied by 15 people live above the store. None of them were hurt. The Red Cross was called in to assist them.
Police found tire tracks 100 yards north on Butler Street. The vehicle hit a snow bank 80 yards north of the store. It went straight on the sidewalk, knocking down a chain link fence before hitting the store. The building's entire front porch was demolished.
Police say the driver had a strong odor of alcohol and was slurring his words. They were waiting for the results of blood tests.

About 20 people were fighting in the parking lot of a Wall Street nightclub early Saturday, police say. When police responding to the 1:48 a.m. call arrived at Rhythm Bar, one of the combatants shouted, Lets fight the cops! He also used the F-word as he allegedly tried to incite the people in the crowd, who were pushing and shoving each other.
Paul Stewart, 26, of Woodward Avenue, was arrested and charged with interfering with a police officer and inciting to riot. Bond was set at $10,000.
Police said two sisters in the crowd were fighting each other. Quanaisha Benton, 35, and Lashonda Dennis, 33, both of Bridgeport, were arrested. Benton was charged with breach of peace. Dennis was charged with disorderly conduct.
Police did not know why they fight began.
