Wine Tasting, Auction Help Whittingham

SpinOdyssey 2011 may be scheduled for the first Sunday  in March, but raising money to fund breast cancer research is a year-round effort. To kick off the 12th year of the only event where participants Spin, dance, and play tennis in support of finding a cure, a team of local SpinOdyssey volunteers and cancer survivors will host the 3rd Annual SpinOdyssey Wine Tasting and Silent Auction on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The fund-raiser for Norwalk Hospital's Whittingham Cancer Center breast cancer research will be catered by Fat Cat Pie Company and held at its 3-5 Wall St. location (former home of Fat Cat Joe) in Norwalk.

Organized by the Westport/Weston YMCA SpinOdyssey spin team, the event will feature an array of fine vintages from Fat Cat's renowned wine cellar. Wine lovers will be able to sample a number of "food-friendly" wines and hors d'oeuvres that complement them. They’ll also see firsthand why Fat Cat was cited by Food and Wine Magazine in October 2006 as one of "America's Most Amazing Wine Experiences."

In addition to the wine tasting, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on a large selection of silent auction items, including "dining around" packages, fine jewelry, local art, wine and other things that make perfect gifts for the holidays.

The complete list of silent auction items can be viewed at www.spinodyssey.org. Event tickets are $75 per person. All silent auction proceeds, and a portion of the ticket proceeds, will benefit breast cancer research at Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital.

To reserve tickets or donate a silent auction item, please e-mail spin.odyssey@gmail.com or call the SpinOdyssey hotline at (203) 362-5231.
