WILTON, Conn. Join Wilton resident Jeff Yates on a virtual tour of the 19 trout streams in Fairfield County and discover where to go, where to park, what to use and how to fish the incredible rivers hiding in plain sight in your own backyard.
Yates, vice president of the Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited, is wrapping up his work on "Fly Fishing Fairfield County: Secrets of Suburban Streams," a soon-to-be-released regional fishing guide book and will share everything he has learned about our local rivers in a talk Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Included in his talk will be information on the Norwalk River and the west branch of the Saugatuck River in Wilton with detailed instructions on where to go, where to park and how to fish this great stream.
Yates will cover all these rivers and tell you which ones to fish when you're targeting trophy trout, where to go to find native brook trout and what's your best bet for a quiet, scenic day on a secluded stream.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the mansion at Waveny Park in New Canaan.
Trout Unlimited meetings are free and open to the public. Information can be found online at www.mianustu.org.
