Westporter Brings Farm Fresh Food to Your Fridge

If you're a busy on-the-go parent who doesn't always have time to prepare wholesome family dinners, you might like Graze, a farm-to-fridge food delivery service co-founded by Westporter Christy Colasurdo.

Based in Vermont, Graze delivers farm-fresh foods such as grass-fed beef, eggs from cage-free chickens, milk and cheese to your door every week.

"We strive to keep everything organic," said Christy, a mother of two and writer for Moffly Media. "Cows, from the time they're born, are treated like royalty: They get to graze the pasture and are finished on organic grains. Everything is super-clean and done the old-fashioned way."

But Graze goes above and beyond staple foods. If you're looking for something sweet, you'll find brownies, cookies and pies -- to name a few. Maybe you'd like some pure Vermont maple syrup, pancake mix or jam? Graze offers these items, too.

You can even order ready-to-go chef-prepared meals such as enchiladas and stuffed shells, or sides such as soup and salad. And as at a restaurant, weekly specials are available, Christy said.

"You can have a nice meal without messing up your kitchen or breaking the bank. And you don't have to default on pizza or Chinese food," she said. "As a mom, it's nice having those first couple of nights taken care of without having to go to the store like everyone else -- that's been so incredibly helpful."

Perhaps the best part is the convenience factor: You place your order online and it's delivered to your home or office every Monday.

What got this writer into the organic food delivery business, you ask?

“The timing was right,” said Christy. “People are looking for more local foods. And I felt it was a business anyone could get behind.”

Not to mention the fact that her 10-year-old son Charlie loves farming and supporting local foods.

“He’s definitely our biggest advocate,” she said. “It makes you feel good when your child can be proud of your work.”

Currently, Graze delivers to all of lower Fairfield County. For more information or to place an order, visit the company's website.
