Teen Joins Green Fun at Norwalk Festival

WESTON, Conn. — Kat Fischer, a Weston High School junior, will join the Live Green Connecticut! Festival as exhibitor Sept. 17 and 18 at Taylor Farm Park in Norwalk. She is the founder of Kat's Paws, a bottle and can redemption program that benefits the PAWS animal shelter in Norwalk.

Kat will collect redeemable bottles and cans at this fun-filled two-day festival and will be among nearly 100 exhibitors and vendors promoting green living. The focus is on education, sustainability and caring for the environment with vendors on green building design and architecture, water, wind and solar exhibits, eco-friendly products, wellness demonstrations and fashion. Individuals and families will get with money-saving ideas, tax-incentive opportunities and an enjoyable experience.For the kids, there will be a petting zoo, marine life exhibits by SoundWaters and the Maritime Aquarium, Woodcock Nature Center exhibits, face painting, hands-on activities and strolling entertainment courtesy of the Trummytones. For car buffs, a Tesla roadster and the new Chevy Volt and Chevy Cruz Eco will be exhibited. Food and beverage vendors Newman's Own, Bulls Head Market and Planet Fuel will serve everything from smoothies to desserts.Admission is free. The festival will run Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Taylor Farm Park, 45 Calf Pasture Beach, Norwalk.
