Thousands Turn Out To Sandy Hook Run Saturday

HARTFORD, Conn. – Nearly 15,000 people showed participated in a 5K in Hartford to raise money for the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The Hartford Marathon group, which helped organize the run, tweeted that the race raised more than $438,000. The money was presented to United Way of Western Connecticut CEO Kim Morgan to be donated to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.

Among the runners was Gov. Dannel Malloy, who spoke briefly before the race.

It was a "tremendous healing experience,” his office tweeted, adding that the Governor was "very moved" with the response from runners and spectators.
