Nearly a dozen hunts were held throughout the county Saturday from Fairfield to Stamford to Danbury. More were scheduled for Sunday.
The annual hunt at the Rowayton Community Association brings out residents, rain or shine, said Tim Widmer, who attended the event with his son, Michael, at the community center.
“This really is a nice event,” said Widmer. “Everyone seems to make a point to come each year.”
Parents helped to spread more than 1,000 eggs across the large field at the community center, said TG Diamandis, who has helped to organize the annual Rowayton event the last 10 years with his wife, Alex.
“If we didn’t have a record turnout, it was close,” said TG Diamandis, estimating that at least 200 children participated Saturday.
Local attorney John Aldrich was dressed up as a giant Easter Bunny for the event, posing for pictures with children and parents.
Tom Woolston, who brought his 21-month-old daughter Freya to the hunt, said she was having fun.
“She’s not quite sure what it all is about, but she’s enjoying it,” he said.
At the Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s annual Heckscher Farm Egg Hunt, more than 2,000 children from Stamford, Greenwich and New York walked through the event in the first 90 minutes, according to the center’s marketing director Robin Wexler.
In addition to the egg hunt, the center also provided face painting, seeds and lessons about animals that lay eggs.
Greenwich resident Matt Jacobs and his wife brought their two sons, Will and Cal, to the event.
“It’s our second time,” said Matt Jacobs. “The center really puts on a nice event, and you couldn’t have asked for a better day. Everyone’s happy.”
