Sono Field House Caters to Party Plans

Amanda Williams throws a great party. She certainly has the space to do it in the spacious Sono Field House, where she is the event and party coordinator. "We like to offer a unique experience,'' says Amanda, a former lacrosse star at Sacred Heart University.

The parties Williams creates at Sono are appropriate for young children through older guests. The facility recently hosted a party for actor Richard Gere, and former President Clinton hosted a political function there. For the younger set, Amanda can create parties that include the rock climbing wall, the sports field for soccer, flag football, tug-of-war and relay races. There's no limit to the variety Williams and the staff can create.

"We've had everything for kids a year old up to 60 years old,'' Amanda says. "We've thrown surprise parties. The word is definitely getting around. We're booked pretty far in advance."

Williams can also create a custom party if the activity is not included in Sono's array of offerings. Birthday parties are popular. Amanda can also develop plans for adults, Sweet 16s, team parties, and bar and bat mitzvahs. It's one of the challenges that she enjoys about her job. "Every party is different,'' she says. "We like to make it fun for everybody."
