Some Norwalk residents have had enough snow, but not Frank Kane. "This is crazy," he said in one instant. "This is good," he said in the next. "Slow everybody down a little bit."
Kane lives on Gregory Boulevard, a main road and part of the city's snow emergency route. He said he had been up all night, watching out the window, and said city plows came by every half-hour. "I think they did a great job," Kane said. "A lot of time they just wait until it stops, but they were out there."
Kane didn't understand why anybody would be on the roads Wednesday. "I don't get it," he said. "Whatever you can do today you can do tomorrow. ... Slow down, enjoy the moment. Now, if you get another two feet you'll know what a problem is."
Down the road a little bit, Tony Vescio was using a snow blower to clear the sidewalk. He said he had done it earlier, but a snowplow came through and buried the curb. Vescio was back to clean up. "I think it was a lot of snow, but very soft, too," he said. "It was not wet snow. Very soft, bad, but not that bad."
Kati Numa, a clerk at the Market Basket, said she is from Estonia so she is accustomed to snow. Her husband is from Jamaica and even though he has been in America for almost four decades, he still doesn't like it.
Her picture-taking foray before work included cars under snow, trees under snow and her "husband's crabby face" peering out the window.
"I don't mind," she said of the weather. "Unless it gets too cold and annoying and you can't park the cars anywhere. That gets annoying."
