Second SoNo Baking Co. Reveals Details

WESTPORT, Conn. – With the resurgence of the restaurant scene in Westport in full swing, third-generation baker John Barricelli thought it was the right time to toss his chef’s hat into the ring and expand his popular SoNo Baking Company business.

“It’s really nice to be a part of it,” Barricelli says of Westport’s recent gastronomic boom. “We already have a large Westport clientele that comes to our South Norwalk store, so now they won’t have to drive as far.”

The second SoNo Baking Company will be convenient to Fairfield fans as well. The new spot is on the eastern edge of Westport, adjacent to A & J’s market. “We’ve been selling some of our product at A & J’s for years,” explains Barricelli. “It was just a natural fit.”

As for the offerings, Barricelli says it’s an expansion of their retail operation, as opposed to the café. “We’ll have grab and go sandwiches, pastries, espressos, cappuccinos and our breads, of course.” So if you’re craving one of SoNo Baking Company’s superlative omelettes, you’ll just have to make your way down to the Water Street location.

But if you’re ready to get your SoNo Baking Company fix in Westport, you won’t have to wait too long. “We’re looking at Labor Day to open,” says Barricelli.
