This weekend, tour working farms in Easton, ride a ferry to Norwalk Harbor's lighthouse (with ghosts and goblins waiting!) make discoveries at a nature festival and sample the old-fashioned pleasures of a celebrated country fair. True, we can see fall peeking over the horizon, but happily, these seasonal events keep summer firmly in focus. Here's the rundown:
Saturday
Easton's local farms show off their charms on The 3rd Annual Easton Farm Tour, hosted by The Citizens For Easton, Saturday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Start at the Easton Firehouse Green, where you pick up the Easton Garden Clubs Farm Map. Then, head out to the farms where pony rides, hayrides, a petting zoo, tastings, and pick your own veggies and fruit fresh from the farm are waiting. Activate your creative side at The Aldrich Museum's Family Art Adventures, noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, when artist Erin Smith leads a workshop on making instruments from recycled and found materials. Sign up for summer spookiness this weekend with Norwalk Seaport Association's ''Haunted Sheffield Island Lighthouse tour on August 13 and 14. Visitors glide in via ferry to a decorated lighthouse where ghosts, goblins, ghouls and ... unknown creatures are waiting. Haunted lighthouse activities are free, but round-trip ferry tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children ages 4-12 and $5 children, ages 3 and younger. Wend your way to Sharon Audubon in northwest Connecticut on Aug. 13 & 14 because a once-a-year family event where live animals, stimulating educational activities, nature walks and more will shake your kids out of their summer doldrums. Lots of never-before-seen-up-close birds and reptiles, as well as exhibits, vendors, food, music and a full plate of interactive opportunities for exploring the natural world are on hand. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Mystic Outdoor Art Festival's trifecta includes a display of oils, watercolors, photography, pastels, sculpture and acrylics, crafters and their wares, children's art fun and food. Connecticut's agricultural fair season kicks off with the Lebanon Country Fair and its array of entertainment, including monster trucks, demolition derby, a beauty pageant, helicopter rides as well as the more traditional animals, and food and rides. For more information, visit the Fair's website.

The Discovery Museum hosts a "First in Flight" Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate Bridgeport's contributions to aviation, including, Gustave Whitehead and the first airplane flight; the Sikorsky Helicopter, and the Frisbee (The Frisbie Baking Company). Park your pickup at Rowayton's Pinkney Park Sunday at 5:30, to hear bluegrass band Chatham County Line and Ed Wright, who performs solo guitar.
