New Store Pours For Charity

Jeff Marron, owner of Saugatuck Grain + Grape, the wine and spirits store that recently opened across from the Westport station, was at Lillian August this week sampling a selection of wines for a good cause, Project Return. There to help him was Ian Merriss, a salesman with Worldwide Wines, which contributed the wines.

Jeff and his fiancee, Mimi McLoughlin pooled many years in the wine business to open their store just eight weeks ago. "We have been super busy," said Jeff. In addition to a great selection of wines, the store boasts over 300 beers, many of them artisanal, as well as a vast range of Tequilas and grain spirits.

Ian Merriss grew up in Westport and is currently a Fairfield resident. He sells wine to all the top area restaurants and to select upscale stores, "like Jeff's," he said.

Project Return is a Westport-based therapeutic group home dedicated to helping teenage girls in crisis rebuild their homes.
