Manager of Admin Services Honored

Manager of Administrative Services Lee-Ann Etter of Stamford-based Crane Co. was recently honored by Family Centers for the Job Readiness Day program she created. "The best word I can say is 'overwhelmed,' " Etter said of receiving the social services agency's "Family Champion award. "It's quite an honor, for one. But I'm also overwhelmed because it is such a team effort, not only with the Family Centers, but with my colleagues at Crane."

Etter, a Stamford native who now lives in Norwalk, received the award at the Greenwich-based agency's 119th annual meeting.

Each year, Job Readiness Day brings five Family Centers vocational training clients to Crane headquarters, where they work with Crane employees polishing resumes, going through mock interviews and shadowing to gain job-acquisition skills.

"Those who have participated in the Job Readiness Day at Crane have stated that they've never felt so well taken care of, so important, and never would have imagined themselves spending such quality time with so many high-level, dedicated and caring professionals," said Family Centers President Bob Arnold in a statement.

"One participant shared that for years, she always felt places like Crane are off limits for someone like her," Arnold went on. "But after spending the day with Lee-Ann and her co-workers, she is no longer intimidated and is inspired to continue on her career path."

"I had people say, 'This is great.' I think what they see with us is a sense of teamwork. This is a nice environment to be in," said Etter. "It would be great if this is a template we could encourage other corporations to use."
