Kids on a Roll at Calf Pasture Skatepark

Get the ice packs ready. The skate park at Norwalk's Calf Pasture Beach was a blur of activity on Good Friday, which presented a perfect storm of "day off from school" and gorgeous weather (at last!). Kids as young as five took on the park's many ramps and rails, while parents looked on from nearby bleachers.

"They don't get as many injuries as you'd think," said Monica Miele of Norwalk, mother to Andrew, 7, and Alex, 5. "My little one doesn't really stand on his board, anyway. He pretty much just sits on it, or lies on his belly." [breakhere]

"We mostly end up with a lot of ripped pants and shoes," said Monica's pal Randy Haus, who had three kids on the course: Anna, Anthony and Joey (9, 8 and 5 respectively). And even though the "big kids" are somewhat intimidating, Randy said they're "pretty considerate" of the little ones.

"When my son got here, he said 'Am I gonna get punched?' But I told him he didn't have anything to worry about."

Randy is probably right, especially considering all the little kids were wearing helmets. The big ones? Not so much.
