Keep Kids Busy With Games in the Snow

What better time for indoor bonding and outdoor fun than a snow day? Here are some tips for keeping the kids busy while you're snowed in.

• Flop down in a drift and make snow angels

• Get out a carrot, top hat and other winter accessories to practice the fine art of building a snowman

• Have a (gentle) snowball fight

• Dust off the sleds and find the nearest hill!

Once you're done playing outside ...

• Warm up with some hot chocolate — and don't forget the marshmallows!

• Video games are fun, but make it a family game day with traditional playing cards and board games.

• Tell snow day stories from when you were a kid.

• Make snow ice cream!

Ingredients:

• 1 small box of instant pudding (any flavor will work)

• 2 tsp of vanilla flavoring

• 1 1/4 cups of white granulated sugar

• 2 1/2 cups of very cold milk, half and half, or heavy cream

• 3 quarts of fresh, clean snow

Directions:

Combine pudding mix, vanilla, milk or cream, and sugar together. Mix well.

Stir mixture into snow and enjoy!
