Those first sleep-deprived months of your babys life can feel like years. But before you know it, youve got a tween at the table who wants to know, Mom, what was my first word?
Today when I see young mothers with their little babies and looking haggard, I offer them the same advice I got Enjoy this time, it goes by too quickly, says Jennifer Covello, Norwalk mother-of-two.
But I know they wont listen I didnt!
What Jennifer did manage to do as a new parent was to keep a journal of sorts, first for her son, then her daughter. Now practically teenagers, her kids still tell her when something important happens so she can jot it down. Shes so thankful for the journals, she says, that she wishes every mother could have a similar bookshelf memory bank. Still, she knows how challenging it can be to keep a coherent account during the early years. Thats why she created My Life A Chronicle of the Journey, a baby journal that makes it easy for moms to record memorable moments.
I so firmly believed in recording the stories of my childrens lives that I wanted to bring this to other parents who felt the same way, she says.
The spiral-bound, 127-page volume comes in a palette of soft, gender-neutral colors, with spaces for photographs and handwritten notes. The journals success has spawned an entire line of baby clothes and accessories. Jennifer calls her company Frittabello, a word based on her sons first attempts at speaking his name (Christopher Covello). Frittabello LLC and a local event planning business, My Time For Me, will be hosting a Babies, Bumps and Beyond expo at The Loading Dock in Stamford on April 25th, a day for new and expectant parents to learn about local baby-related services and products. (Entrepreneurs take note Covello is looking for more exhibitors and sponsors.). To find out more, call 203-524-0784.
