In Her Easter Bonnet, with All the Frills Upon It

The Easter Bonnet tradition was alive and well at Norwalk's Grace Baptist Church, where the female members of the congregation donned their most festive headwear for yesterday's 10:30 a.m. service. "I was giving my sermon and looking out at all these bonnets," said pastor Rev. Lindsay E. Curtis. "They were beautiful!"

While most of the hats were white, colors ranged from lavender to orange. As for the requisite "frills," there were wide brims, bows, flowers - even glitter.

Like many of the other women, Lauryn Shular of Norwalk said she chose her green satin and rhinestone model to complement her dress. What if she decided on an outfit of different color at the last minute? "Oh, I have a closet full of hats," Lauryn said. Too bad Easter comes only once a year.
