Your old electric fan could keep a neighbor cool this summer. Christian Community Action is conducting its first annual fan drive. The group is collecting new and used working fans to help local residents without air conditioning.
"Every summer, there is a high demand for fans," said Christi Pope, director of CCA.
Fans can be dropped off at Westys Storage, 50 Keeler Ave., Norwalk, during the month of April, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m..
CCA also collects donated furniture throughout the year. Trucks pick up gently used furniture and delivers it to individuals and families at no cost. In addition to providing a service to the needy, the program supports recycling.
"We save 2,000 to 3,000 pieces of furniture from landfills annually," said Pope.
