Norwalk's Cultural Alliance Plans Workshops For Artists

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk's Cultural Alliance is hosting a professional practice program for visual artists this month.

"Make.Art.Work." is set to launch its second season of workshops on Oct. 28, according to a press release. The program is resented by the Arts Council of Greater New Haven, Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County and the Greater Hartford Arts Council with support from the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation. 

"Jane Pollak, creative career coach and author of 'Soul Proprietor' who received accolades for her teachings in year one of the Make.Art.Work. program, is back to kick-off this second series with her transformational workshop: Goal Setting & Career Planning for Visual Artists," the press release said. "Artists attending this first workshop lead by Ms. Pollak, can expect to learn the art of setting SMART goals (specific, measurable/meaningful, attainable, relevant, timely) to create meaningful career results."

Artists are asked to pre-register to attend the workshop by visiting the Make.Art.Work. website.

The workshops are set for the following schedule: 

  • Monday, Oct. 28, 6 to 8:30 p.m., University of New Haven, Saw Mill Campus
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Fairfield University, Bellarmine Museum
  • Tuesday, Nov. 12, 6 to 8:30 p.m., The Mark Twain House and Museum, Hartford

"A unique opportunity available to visual artists only through the Make.Art.Work. professional developments series is 'Cohort Membership,'" said the release. "Artists who join the program as a cohort member will receive access to 6 evening workshops in Fairfield, New Haven or Hartford, the Super Saturday workshop in Bridgeport, three small group-coaching sessions, a workbook, and additional networking."

Cohort membership is priced at $225 for the entire package, according to the release.
