Coco Contemplates the Beach, Misses her Buds

Nathan Jaitin tries to persuade Coco, his Welsh Terrier, that it's time to leave Westport's Sherwood Island State Park and head home to Long Island. Earlier, Coco reconnoitered with 20 other Welsh Terriers, members of the Glyndwr Welsh Terrier Club, a social group formed in 1977. Some of the canine members are show dogs, but most are pets. Glyndwr also uses its contacts to "help Welshies in trouble find good homes." What do the Welshies do during their get-togethers? "They're terriers, " Nathan says, "They bark at each other." An upcoming Welshie rendezvous, a "Fun Day," is scheduled for June 6 in Bethel.
