Jessica Rodriguez graduated from Brien McMahon High School three years ago. She should have been experienced at this whole graduation deal, but she felt butterflies as she prepared to receive her certification for medical assistant Thursday at Norwalk Community College.
"There's a little more pressure, a little more excitement,'' says Jessica, 21. "This is going to be my career." Rodriguez was one of 641 graduates in Thursday's ceremonies at the Richards Avenue campus. She chose the medical assistant field because it is one of few industries that has bright job prospects. She has lined up an intern position at pediatric facility in Norwalk.
Asked whether she was ready enter the working world, Rodriguez offered no hesitation. "Oh yes,'' she says. "I'm ready. College felt like it was taking forever." She says the hardest part at NCC was the academics. "Academic overload,'' she says. "That was hard."
