Builders Honor Norwalk Inspector

Joseph DeLallo has been named the 2011 Building Official of the Year by the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County.

Association President Michael Palumbo said DeLallo, an inspector with the Norwalk Building Department for 11 years, deserved the recognition. "Building officials take their jobs very seriously, and this is a way for our membership to show respect for the work they do, helping guide the development of a project stage by stage," Palumbo said in a statement.

"Joe's roots are electrical contracting so he has an excellent working knowledge of the building industry and can interpret the building codes well," Norwalk's Chief Building Official William Ireland said in a statement. "Plus, he's a great guy with a down-to-earth personality." Ireland was the association's 2008 Building Official of the Year.

DeLallo is a Norwalk native and resident, with children in the public schools. The Home Builders and Remodelers Association is a trade group representing builders, remodelers, land developers and home-building service providers in Fairfield County.
