Adopt a Dog This Weekend in Norwalk

If you're a dog lover looking for a new best friend, head over to PETCO in Norwalk this weekend where the Westport-based spay and neuter group T.A.I.L.S. is hosting a dog adoption event.

A total of 34 dogs rescued from high-kill shelters by Colbert Veterinary Rescue in Georgia will be seeking their forever homes Saturday and Sunday. All 34 are spay/neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and come with a free month of pet insurance as well as PETCO coupons and information.

"There's a real need for these dogs to find homes," said T.A.I.L.S. President Dorrie Harris. "These dogs are at one of the no-kill shelters we work with, and until they get adopted the shelter cannot begin making important safety and health renovations at their shelter. Once the renovations are complete, they can save more animals. It's that simple."

The adoption event runs Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There's a $325 adoption fee. For more information on adoption, including filing out an application, visit the T.A.I.L.S. website. You can also see photos of the dogs available for adoption online.
