You've Got the Look: Sammy Vigorito

When you see Sammy Vigorito, it is her smile you notice first. Warm and genuine, it lights up her face better than any makeup or accessory ever could. After that though, it’s hard not to pick up on the easy, boho chic she wears so effortlessly.

I met Sammy at Bobby Q’s in Westport, where she works as a hostess. On the day I saw her, she was rocking a cropped black vest, spectacularly detailed with rivets and fringe. It crowned an understated black ensemble. Sammy is savvy enough to know when one piece needs to be the star. When I ask if I may take her picture, she happily to accommodates me.

“I just graduated from LIM,” she says, flashing that stop traffic smile. LIM, of course, is the fashion and merchandising college in Manhattan, located at the crossroads of business and fashion. No wonder she pulls off her style with such ease. “The vest,” she tells me when I ask, “is from Forever 21. I like their stuff because it looks like the stuff I love but can’t afford.”

Sammy puts Sienna Miller at the top of her list of style icons. “I love the bohemian look, cool but not sloppy.” She also cites Rachel Bilson as another inspiration. “And of course I like Gaga,” she says of the pop mega star, Lady Gaga, “even though I don’t dress like her. I just love all the edgy, geometric stuff she wears.”

Sammy’s career aspirations are of a fashionable vein as well. “I want to get into fashion marketing or public relations, or maybe even events marketing,” she tells me. With a smile and a style like Sammy’s, it’s safe to say she’ll rise to the top, whatever she chooses to do.
