Wow Coffee Lovers with Gift of Espresso

What's under the tree for your favorite coffeeholic? How about an espresso machine?

Fancy coffees from the local barista can burn a big hole in your pocket, but with a shiny espresso machine on the kitchen counter you can brew up espressos and flavored lattes for a fraction of the cost.

It's worth doing a little research before buying. Prices for espresso machines climb quickly from around $150 for a starter model to thousand of dollars for a professional machine. As with most things, you get what you pay for, and a macchiato from a basic machine is only marginally tastier than cup of regular Joe.

Expect to pay from $250 to $500 for a quality espresso machine that includes a steam attachment for heating milk for cappuccino. Nespresso, Gaggia and Breville are good options. Nespresso machines use single-serve capsules, which cost about 57 cents and come in a variety of blends. Use your own favorite roast in the Gaggia and Breville machines.

Happy brewing.
