Snow fatigue. Winter weariness. Were all intimately acquainted with these terms by now. But no amount of complaining will make spring come any faster. So, if you cant beat the weather, you may as well cozy up to some hot drinks to warm your winter days and nights. Here are two recipes that will leave you smiling, despite all the shoveling you have to do.

Warm milk on stove, then add combined cocoa, salt, and sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add light cream, cinnamon, vanilla. Stir over medium heat, but do not bring to a boil. Once warm and well mixed, serve with whipped cream. This is a definite après sled crowd pleaser.
Hot Buttered Rum
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp brown sugar
Pinches of ground cinnamon, allspice and ground nutmeg
½ tps vanilla extract
2 oz dark rum
Hot water
Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Mix butter, sugar, spices and vanilla at the bottom of a mug. Add rum, then fill mug with hot water. Knowing you have one of these waiting for you will make the shoveling go a lot faster. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
