Trendy Paint Can Give Home a Facelift

Do you spend hours poring over design magazines?  Do you dream about a new white kitchen or elegantly tailored curtains to replace the ruffly ones your mother made?  Do you buy lottery tickets and earmark the winnings for a total home make-over?

Here’s a quick and easy fix that will make your house look and feel brand new, but won’t cost you an arm and a leg.  All you'll need is a good quality paint-roller, some bristle brushes and a few gallons of paint!  Yes, you’re going to repaint your house using new trendy shades.

The tricky part is actually picking the colors. We’ve all been to the paint store and felt overwhelmed by the thousands of paint chips. Most of us have chosen the "perfect" paint color only to hate it when it’s up on the walls.  So how do you pick the right color?

These are some of this year’s trendy paint colors :

Slate and charcoal are the hot new neutrals.  Benjamin Moore’s Boothbay Gray looks fabulous paired with Cloud Cover for the trim.

Lavender is a winner in the bedroom. Try Lavender Ice for a luxurious look.  Pick some deeper lavender accents for pillows or a throw.  And use Dove White for the trim.

Aqua is a wonderfully soothing color, but steer away from pastels unless you’re painting a child’s room.  A color like Woodlawn Blue or Wythe Blue in your family room will have your friends ooing and aahing.

If picking paint colors is just too stressful for you, turn to an interior designer.  She’ll come to your house and help you figure it out in no time.
