Tint Windows and be Made in the Shade

In my ongoing quest to behave like a diva whenever possible, I'm considering tinting my car windows in order to avoid the ever-present paparazzi. (That, and I heard there are health and safety benefits to tinting your car's windows.)

Tinting car windows can:

* Help prevent overheating. A car interior can be 60 percent cooler than one without treated glass.

* Protect your skin. Tinted car windows can block 99 percent of damaging UV rays.

* Offer protection. In an accident, tinted windows can help shattered glass hold together on impact, defending occupants from potential injury.

* Safer driving. Tinting reduces glare from sun, snow and headlights.

* Prevent cracking. UV rays and heat cause car upholstery to crack and fade over time. Window tinting behaves like sunscreen for your car's interior.

* Enhanced privacy. Tinting protects privacy, as well as the contents of your car. What burglars can't see, they're less likely to steal. And if you're in an Angelina state of mind, no one will be able to snap any unwanted photos -- particularly if they can't see you.

Connecticut has laws restricting the darkness of tint on automobiles. This is referred to as Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). The VLT refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and glass.
