The Blind Sommelier Talks Wine in Westport

The Westport Country Playhouse is kicking off a season of First Thursday events, to be held the first Thursday of every month. The series opens April 7 with a luncheon featuring well-known sommelier Amy Dixon and a menu by Matsu Sushi. Amy is the fine wine expert and buyer for Stew Leonard’s Wines. Amy lost 97 percent of her eyesight to a rare inflammatory eye disease called uveitis. She now dedicates much of her time and expertise to raising money for eyesight research and guide dog services, and has become known as The Blind Sommelier. She’ll share her wit and knowledge of wine with guests, and put it into practice with a wine tasting with selections from Castle Wine and Spirits.

Raffles at this event will benefit Lions Club International, Westport branch, whose special cause is eyesight health awareness and research.

If you would like to attend, you need to reserve your spot in advance as seating is limited. Tickets are $20 ($25 for same-day) and can be purchased by sending an email to renee@westportwestonchamber.com, or by calling the Westport Chamber of Commerce at (203) 227-9234.
