Thali Opens Fifth Location in Westport

If you’re a serious foodie, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that the latest, hottest emerging food trend is Indian cuisine. New Indian-inspired restaurants are opening everywhere and in rapid succession. Last week, we reported on the brand new Kebab Factory that opened in Norwalk as the third off-shoot of highly respected chef Kausik Roy’s Tawa Indian Bread Bar in Stamford.

This week, Westport became the fifth location for Chef Prasad Chirnomula’s Thali, the highly rated restaurant well known in New Canaan, Ridgefield, and New Haven for its creative and inspired menu.

Located in the Trader Joe’s shopping plaza in Westport, the menu at the newest Thali is presented as a check-off list, with two portion sizes and price points available for every dish. Specialties include Tibetan-style steamed chicken dumplings, jumbo lump crab samosas, and pepper and ginger skirt steak with mint raita (a yogurt-based sauce), to name just a few. And as with the other members of this burgeoning Indian restaurant community, classic Indian favorites like chicken korma, kebabs, and vindaloos are offered as well as all the wonderful Naan breads.

Unique to Thali of Westport is a dedicated pastry chef whose specialty is creating sweet confections not typically found in Indian restaurants. Cardamom creme brulee and lemon grass key lime pie? We’re in. Thali is located in the space formerly occupied by Tai Pan, 376 Post Road East in the Trader Joe’s shopping plaza. For more information, go to www.thali.com.
