Tasting in the Land of Olive Oil and Honey

My newest gastro-crush and Darien’s latest gourmet destination, Olivette, is determined to take over your pantry. In a very good way.

Monday, Feb. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m., Olivette co-owner Alina Lawrence will team up with the Accidental Beekeeper, Marina Marchese, author and founder of Red Bee Apiary, for a tasting that sounds too sweet (and savory) to miss.

What’s on the menu?

Nocellara extra virgin olive oil (E.V.O.O.) paired with alfalfa honey; cranberry/pear white balsamic with apple blossom honey; apricot white balsamic with linden basswood honey; coratina E.V.O.O. with tulip poplar honey; and—one of my personal favorites—blood orange infused E.V.O.O. with buckwheat honey. Side accompaniments will include: brie, goat cheese, local bread by Wave Hill Breads, crackers, nuts, palette cleansers and artisan well water.

And for dessert, you can enjoy cacao truffles with more of that spectacular blood orange infused E.V.O.O. and buckwheat honey.

Space is extremely limited for Olivette’s tastings and seems to run out faster than you can say “E.V.O.O.” Reserve your spot by calling Olivette at (203) 621-0643.
