Worried about the cost of all those lights strung around your house? Jeannie Mortensen, the Christmas Shop manager at Stew Leonard's, has the solution. “Everyone’s asking for low energy LED lights. That’s the hot thing this season,” she said. “We’re selling tons of them.”

The LED (light emitting diode) lights look just like regular lights. Pick warm for a yellow light which is like incandescent bulbs. Cool bulbs give off a blue light and the multi-colored lights are ….. just that. You can string several strands together but don’t mix them with incandescents.

Once you’ve got your lights you’ll need a tree. “We have Douglas firs, which have softer needles, balsams, which have the best scent, Fraser firs, which are have sturdy branches for heavier ornaments, and noble firs,” said Jeannie. “Noble firs are the quintessential Christmas tree, the ones you see in the movies.”
