Slot Car Track Aims for Big Kids

The holidays have come and gone, but you never received that perfect car geek gift: a tricked out, handcrafted slot car version of your favorite racetrack.

Here’s one that caught Jay Leno’s attention. Built by David Beattie, a slot car enthusiast turned mini-track entrepreneur, the “toy” is an intricately detailed course and its environs. Beattie and his crew use high-end routers (and other tools) to carve the topography of the tracks. They create every detail – from tiny trees and fences to the well-worn track tarmac — by hand.

You can buy a replica of your favorite racing venue to place in your very own man cave, but be prepared to spend up to $75,000 for it. If not, consider asking Santa for a Hotwheels set next year.
